New poll shows decline of masks in supportive province
Support for mask mandates has dropped 35 per cent over the past two years in Atlantic Canada, according to a new poll from the Angus Reid Institute.
Ninety-three per cent of Atlantic Canadians supported mask mandates in the winter of 2020, while 58 per cent supported mandates this winter.
Still, Nova Scotia reported one of the highest levels of support in Canada. Six-in-ten said they welcome mask mandates this winter if COVID-19 cases rise.
Twenty-one per cent said they wear a mask in indoor public settings "every single time, no exceptions." That's three-times more often than Albertans and Saskatchewanians.
Nova Scotians were the most likely to still be thinking about COVID-19. While Canadians answered fifty-fifty, Nova Scotia was near 60 per cent.
All nine polled provinces reported they did not support mask mandates as much as in 2020.
